awesome pic. I like the limited colors... black/white/red combinations are always so elegant. looks very light with those long and flowing strokes. what kind of brushes did you use to achieve the real paint look?
The brushes were Corel's brushes. I think I used Tapered Oils from Artists Oils, Grainy Blender, Grainy Water, and Oily Blender from the Blender brushes. I think that should be right, it's been a while and I usually don't work the way I did in this piece on a regular basis. Thanks!
I did this on a Mac actually. And the Painter X program was used on my college's computer. I have Painter IX on my personal computer and it takes around 1.5 GB of RAM to run pretty smoothly. Sorry, I really wish I could be more help.
Eh heh heh, I have to admit, the sword was an afterthought. The whole thing was pretty much an after thought since I didn't even plan on doing a samurai at all. I chose to angle to sword that way since if I switched it around, he would be stabbing himself, I think. I understand where you're coming from, if this was a tighter piece, I would have had those issues solved before I committed to finishing it. But this was all for fun. I'm still glad you like it though. Thanks for critique, I really appreciate it.
Understand, I usually make critiques. It's not that I didn't like your art (I'm actually a wather since I became a deviant), I just criticize for people to improve always more. But I don't know if I have the wright to criticize someone that better than me ^^
Ah, I don't mind. I get bombarded very week in class with critiques so it's perfectly normal. I respect critiques from everyone since I have met people who aren't spectacular artists but have offered me very helpful critiques and solutions (they have an eye for aesthetics). It's very nice of you to offer me a critique since it's hard to get them here on DA. Thank you again!
